These terms cover the use of this website and the licensing of the LITS standard. Last updated June 2026.

1. This site

lits.africa is published by Dzinza to describe the LITS standard and platform. It previews a system in active development; nothing on it is an offer, a warranty or a government service, and it creates no obligation on any government.

2. The standard is open

The LITS API contract, examples and conformance suite are published under the Apache License 2.0, and the documentation under CC BY 4.0. Anyone may implement the contract and integrate with it. The reference implementation and portal are source-available and licensed separately.

3. Names

“LITS” is the common name for a livestock identification and traceability system and is used here descriptively. “ZLITS”, “MLITS”, “Dzinza” and the conformance badge are trademarks of Dzinza. You may refer to the standard and state factually that a product integrates with it; please do not use the names, or any confusingly similar name, to imply official status, accreditation or government endorsement you do not hold.

4. Acceptable use

Use this site lawfully, and do not attempt to disrupt it or misrepresent your relationship with Dzinza or any government.

5. No warranty

This site and its content are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

6. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe.
